What a year 2023 has been! While some residents have achieved triumphs over the last year, many have experienced setbacks which will take time for them to bounce back from. How will they achieve it, you might ask. The answer is simple. Hope.
That four letter word is small, yet mighty and can manifest itself in whatever form you want it to be.
It could be applying for that new job you’ve always desired; learning a new language or signing up for the exercise class you’ve been putting off. Or it simply could be finding time for yourself to have a moment of solitude.
Whatever hope means to you, embrace it.
During this holiday season, let’s commit to be hope for someone else. Have a look around your community. Is there someone who could benefit from a helping hand? Perhaps a senior who needs their lawn mowed or a single parent desperate for help with groceries. Does your favourite charity need assistance with feeding the homeless? The opportunities are endless—if you stop and take a look around. There is no gesture that is too small, especially during this time of the year.
As we look ahead to 2024, let’s endeavour to be a better version of ourselves so that as one, we can create a better Bermuda for all.

Season’s Greetings OBA Family!
As the joyous season of Christmas unfolds, amid the celebration and navigation of it all, I am bound to recall and uphold a few of the principal tenets of the Spirit of Christmas – that of Reflection, of Gratitude and of Hope!
Members, upon reflection of the past year, 2023 has been a truly remarkable year for the evolution of the One Bermuda Alliance, as we celebrated several milestone events. Firstly, on the Parliamentary front we recognised the retirement of a longstanding Member of Parliament, that of our former Leader Mr. N. H. Cole Simons JP; a super-majority win in Constituency 8 for Mr. Benjamin Smith, JP MP (subsequently elected as our new Deputy Leader); and the electing of our new Leader Mr. Jarion Richardson JP MP via acclamation.
To complement the enormous success of our recent Annual General Conference, I also congratulate our two incoming Deputy Chairs, Mrs. Elizabeth Deacon (Candidate for C4) and Mr. Joe Marable (Candidate for C6). However, I would be remiss not to recognize our two outgoing Deputy Chairs, Mr. Dwayne Robinson JP (Senator, and Candidate for C30) along with Mr. Michael Cann for their respective contributions to our Party over the years.
Equally worth celebrating has been the immeasurable progress and achievement of the rebuilding of our Party. As a testament of our progress, you will have noted that for several months now we have embarked on a methodical and ongoing Candidate Roll-out (14 to date) in tandem with the immense effort that has gone into formulating our Party Platform.
However, the One Bermuda Alliance is not just a group of forty (40) plus Executive and Legislative individuals. Its existence is dependent on an all-encompassing political Family, and that includes you our beloved members! As the holiday season offers a time for reflection, unity, and shared purpose, on behalf of your Executive, allow me to express my deepest gratitude and joy for the unwavering commitment and support of the many dedicated individuals that have contributed towards the success which our Party has enjoyed throughout the year.
Members, amidst the Reflection of all our progress thus far and subsequent expressions of Gratitude, we must all forge ahead together with that collective Hope that will keep us steadfast in our desire to see to it that our Party only grows from strength to strength as we prepare to form the next Government.
To conclude, in the Spirit of the Season, let us recur to our minds that. “Peace on earth will come to stay when we live Christmas every day.” For, “He or she who has not Christmas in their heart will never find it under a tree.”
May you and your loved ones enjoy a most pleasant Holiday Season, filled with endless Yuletide memories: may its message stay with you the entire year through, and may you forever in your heart continue with the ‘Gift of Giving’!
