OBA Spring Conference A Great Success
Our Spring Conference could only be hailed as a great success and an entertaining and enlightening evening for all who attended.
More than 400 members gathered to meet OBA Parliamentarians and executive with speeches given by Party Chair, Senator Lynne Woolridge, and Premier Michael Dunkley.
We were honoured to have guest speaker Michael Bloomberg, who had a lively discussion with the Premier on a wide range of political, social and business issues, with questions from members of Bermuda’s Youth Parliament in attendance.
Mr. Bloomberg discussed a number of topics including what he loves about Bermuda and why he has been coming back for 25 years, his time as Mayor of New York, politics and philanthropy. He spoke at length about one of his greatest passions, healthcare and the projects his charitable team have undertaken in Africa and other regions.
Premier Dunkley said: “Our Parliamentarians, executive and members enjoyed a great evening and we were privileged to have a great friend to Bermuda, Mr. Michael Bloomberg impart his wisdom and advice on how to achieve success in the personal, business and political realms. And of course he spoke on his incredible philanthropic achievements, of which he has personally funded $3.3 billion over the years. The evening was also a great opportunity to speak with our members, hear their concerns and hear how they believe we can keep Bermuda moving forward.”
As I told the Conference, we are proud of what we have achieved so far; that we are on track and moving forward. In two years, we've essentially rebuilt the economic foundation; putting in place conditions to stop the bleeding, reboot the engine, right-size government and restore confidence in the Island. We’ve done a lot, but, as you well know, there is much left to do in order to make the Island work better for people.
My colleagues and I are focussed and fully committed to getting the job done for a better Bermuda.”

Special thanks must be extended to the OBA Executive and volunteers whose hard work ensured the evening was a great success.
